There was a rather rare combination of strength and sensitivity about Swayze, and that was part of his appeal I think. He was a dancer, an action star, and a leading man who never quite fit into one category. He died in 2009 at just 57, but his presence on screen remains unmistakable and timeless. The tests confirmed a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, the Vatican said in a medical bulletin after the surgery. It said the diagnosis had been suspected by preoperative tests and was confirmed during surgery.
