The Justice Department announced that as part of the settlement agreement in President Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS, the attorney general is establishing an $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” to compensate those who allege they were wrongly targeted under the Biden administration. The Justice Department is finalizing a deal to settle President Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS that would create a $1.7 billion taxpayer-funded commission to settle claims by people alleging harm from what Trump called “weaponization” of the justice system, though critics including some Republicans are questioning its legality.
