#Germany: more on the  #Hanning case.
– In Feb. 2022 August  #Hanning wrote a four-page letter to then-chancellor Olaf Scholz asking him to intervene with  #Latvia over the collapse of PNB Banka, the bank whose supervisory board had left Hanning facing multi-million-euro claims and a garnished pension.
– The occasion was an imminent visit by then-Latvian prime minister Krišjānis Kariņš.
– Hanning asked Scholz to raise the insolvency and the damages claims with Kariņš and to press him to “agree to an independent investigation.”
– Hanning had sat on the board for about two years, responsible for compliance, at €12,000 a month.
– The insolvency administrator later sought nearly €32 million from him and eight others, including former  #NATO secretary-general Anders Fogh Rasmussen;
–  @BILD has put Hanning’s personal exposure at up to €4 million.
– Hanning later told Bild the Chancellery did nothing.
– A Latvian court ordered two-thirds of his pension, reported at up to €11,000 a month, garnished. Germany enforced the order.  #Denmark blocked enforcement against Rasmussen pending a final ruling.
