According to BILD, Germany will present evidence of Russian involvement to the NATO Council on Wednesday. France, the UK and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte are expected to support a coordinated response. Possible measures include new sanctions, action against Russia’s shadow fleet, tighter entry rules for Russian citizens and further diplomatic restrictions. Chancellor Friedrich Merz sees the incident as a serious escalation and warns that Germany must prepare for more hybrid attacks.
